Custom transfer links: shareurfiles.com/r/your-name

In short

On the Pro and Max plans, you can give a transfer a custom link such as shareurfiles.com/r/project-launch instead of a random one. Recipients recognize it at a glance and can type it from memory. The custom link works only while your transfer is open.

Step by step

  1. Open the transfer options

Before creating the link, open the options and go to the Link tab.

  2. Choose a name

Use 3 to 32 characters: lowercase letters, digits and hyphens.

  3. Create the transfer

If the name is free, your link becomes shareurfiles.com/r/your-name. Share it like any other link.

Why use a custom link

A readable link looks more trustworthy than a random one, which matters when you send files to clients. It is also easier to dictate over the phone or write on a slide.

Each custom link belongs to one open transfer at a time. When the transfer ends, the name becomes available again.

Security stays the same

A custom link is still end-to-end encrypted and can be combined with a password, a recipient limit or, on Max, a list of allowed emails. Because the name can be guessed more easily than a random code, add a password for anything sensitive.
