Attachment too big for Gmail or Outlook: how to send it

In short

Gmail rejects attachments over 25 MB, and Outlook stops at about 20 MB. For a bigger file, drop it on ShareUrFiles and paste the link into your email: the recipient downloads it straight from your device, with no size limit and no account to create.

Step by step

  1. Drop the file

Open shareurfiles.com/send and drag in the file that's too big for your email.

  2. Copy the link

Click Create link, then copy it.

  3. Paste it into your email

Add the link to the message. Keep the ShareUrFiles page open until the recipient has downloaded.

Email limits

  • Gmail: 25 MB of attachments per message. Beyond that, it offers a Google Drive link, which uses your storage space.
  • Outlook: about 20 MB per message, depending on the version.
  • These limits count all the attachments of a single message together.

Why a link rather than online storage

A Google Drive or OneDrive link keeps a copy of your file in your online space, which eventually fills up. With ShareUrFiles, the file goes straight from your device to the recipient's: it takes no space and isn't stored anywhere.

When the recipient isn't available right away

The transfer happens while you're both online. The link stays valid for 24 hours on Free, 3 days on Basic and 7 days on Pro: the recipient can open it whenever they like during that time, as long as your ShareUrFiles page is open.
