What “no upload” means
With a classic transfer service, your file is copied to a data center, stays there for days, and anyone with the link can download it during that time. You have to trust the company with that copy.
With ShareUrFiles, the file never leaves your device except to go to your recipient. Our server only helps the two browsers find each other, a bit like a phone operator connecting a call. The content itself goes directly between you, encrypted.
The benefits
- Privacy: there is no copy for anyone to leak, sell, scan or hand over.
- No size cap: nothing is stored, so there is nothing to limit.
- No waiting: the recipient starts downloading while you are still sending. There is no upload step first.
- Nothing left behind: close the tab and the transfer is over for good.
The one trade-off
Because the file comes from your device, both of you must be online at the same time, and your tab must stay open until the recipient has finished. If you need to drop a file and leave, a direct transfer is not the right tool. For everything else, it is faster and more private.
Questions on this topic
Does ShareUrFiles keep a copy of my files?
No. Files never go through our servers, so we cannot see, keep or share them. We only keep basic records such as the date, number and total size of transfers.
What happens if I close the tab?
The transfer stops immediately. That is what guarantees no copy of your file exists anywhere else.
Is it slower than uploading?
Usually it is faster: the recipient receives the file while you send it, instead of waiting for a full upload followed by a full download.
Ready to send?
Drop a file and share a 6-digit code. No size limit, even for free.
