Step by step
Create a free account
Sending needs a free account so we can apply your plan. Receiving never needs one.
Drop your file
Drag it onto the page or tap to pick it. There is no size limit: 2 GB, 20 GB or 200 GB all work the same way.
Share the code
Send the 6-digit code, the link or the QR code to your recipient, by message, email or out loud.
Keep your tab open
The recipient opens the link or types the code and the download starts right away, straight from your device.
Why there is no size limit
Most transfer services upload your file to their servers first, then let the recipient download it. Storing files costs money, so they cap the size of free transfers.
ShareUrFiles works differently: the file is never uploaded anywhere. It travels directly from your browser to the recipient's browser over an encrypted connection. Since nothing is stored, there is nothing to cap. The only limits are your connection and the free space on the recipient's device.
How long will it take?
The real speed is the slower of the two connections, usually the sender's upload speed. Each plan also has its own top speed:
- Free: up to 2 MB/s. A 1 GB file takes about 8 minutes.
- Basic: up to 20 MB/s. A 1 GB file takes under a minute.
- Pro: up to 60 MB/s. A 1 GB file takes about 17 seconds.
- Max: no speed cap, as fast as both connections allow.
Tips for very large files
Plug your computer in and stop it from going to sleep: if the sending device sleeps, the transfer pauses. A wired or strong Wi-Fi connection helps a lot.
For files of several tens of gigabytes, ask your recipient to use Chrome, Edge or Firefox on a computer, which can write huge files straight to disk.
On Basic, Pro and Max, a download that gets cut resumes where it stopped. On the free plan, it has to restart from the beginning.
Questions on this topic
Is there really no maximum file size?
Yes. No plan has a file size limit, including Free. The practical limits are the time the transfer takes and the free disk space on the recipient's side.
Does the recipient need an account?
No. The recipient opens the link or types the 6-digit code in any browser. Only the sender needs a free account.
Can I close my laptop during the transfer?
No. The file is sent from your device, so it has to stay on, awake and online, with the tab open, until the recipient has everything.
