The comparison table
Free plan limits taken from the official pages in November 2026. They change from time to time: check them before an important transfer.
| Service | Free limit | Where the files are | Recipient account |
|---|---|---|---|
| ShareUrFiles | Unlimited size, 3 transfers a day | Nowhere: they go from one browser to the other, encrypted | No |
| WeTransfer | 10 transfers or 3 GB per 30 days | On its servers, for a limited time | No |
| SwissTransfer | Up to 50 GB per transfer | On its servers in Switzerland, for a limited time | No |
| Google Drive | 15 GB of space, shared with Gmail and Photos | In your online space, until you delete them | No, with a public link |
| Email (Gmail, Outlook) | About 20 to 25 MB per message | In the mailboxes | An email address |
How to choose
- File over 50 GB, or large files sent often: ShareUrFiles, with no size limit.
- Confidential file you don't want any server to keep: ShareUrFiles, end-to-end encrypted and never stored.
- Recipient who will download later, when your device is off: a service that stores files, like SwissTransfer or WeTransfer.
- Folder to keep online and share for months: Google Drive or another online storage service.
- Small document of a few MB: an email attachment is enough.
The difference that matters
WeTransfer, SwissTransfer and Google Drive copy your file to their servers, then the recipient downloads it. That's where their limits come from: storage is expensive, so free plans limit size or duration.
ShareUrFiles stores nothing: the file goes straight from your device to the recipient's, over an encrypted connection. That's why size isn't limited. The trade-off: both devices must be online at the same time, and the free plan is slower than the paid ones.
Questions on this topic
What is the best free service to send a large file?
It depends on the size. Up to 3 GB, WeTransfer works. Up to 50 GB, SwissTransfer. Beyond that, ShareUrFiles has no size limit, even for free, because it sends the file directly without storing it.
Why doesn't ShareUrFiles have a size limit?
Because it doesn't store files. They go straight from your device to the recipient's, so no server space limits their size.
Does ShareUrFiles replace Google Drive?
No. Google Drive keeps your files online over time. ShareUrFiles is for handing a file to someone, quickly and without leaving a copy.
